Dear FAST Community,
Welcome to the latest edition of our newsletter! We’re excited to bring you important updates, reminders, and upcoming deadlines for the end of 2024 and early 2025. As we continue to navigate the reappointment and promotion processes, we want to ensure you have the latest information on TTT comparative rates, TPAC-RL timelines, and key submission dates. This month’s updates also include helpful resources on Interfolio guidelines as well as FLSA minimum updates, and Zoom office hours.
Important Upcoming RPT Deadlines

Updates and News
RPT Updates
For Tenure-Track files, please include Women's RPT Rates as Compared to Men Since 1981.
All TPAC-RL Reappointment & Promotion Roster Review Meetings have been completed. Reach out to Emily Tacoma with any questions regarding TPAC-RL reappointments or promotions.
Interfolio
Did you know Interfolio Faculty Search can be used for non-faculty searches such as postdocs, fellowships, and applications to seminars? When conducting these non-faculty searches, be sure to set the Position Type to “Other” in the position set up.
Research Leaves
The University has rolled out a new Faculty Leave process. This rollout, which was a major part of the OnBase Faculty Files Phase 2 project, was successful due to the feedback from our departments and dean’s offices. For more information concerning the new Faculty Leave request process, please consult the documentation and FAQ’s concerning the new Faculty Leave request process or contact the Office of the Provost.
Salary Minimum Updates
Beginning January 1, 2025, the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) minimum salary for exempt positions will change from $844 per week (equivalent to a $43,888 annual salary) to $1,128 per week (equivalent to a $58,656 annual salary). All faculty positions are considered exempt and must meet this new minimum salary requirement unless they are instructional faculty positions. Any new appointment with a spring semester start date or after needs to meet the new minimum salary requirement unless it is an instructional only position.
Part-Time Appointments (non-adjunct)
The Provost's Office and General Counsel have refined the requirements for part-time appointments to keep the University compliant with the Affordable Care Act. Part-time faculty cannot work more than 29 hours per week, or they will become full-time employees. Because faculty are exempt and do not track their time, when a part-time appointment letter is issued (outside of adjunct appointments), the agreed terms section should include a list of the responsibilities with a weekly hours estimate for each responsibility. An example can be found here. If an appointment’s responsibilites include more than instruction, FLSA minimums will apply to the salary (see above section Salary Minimum Updates).
Office Hours
Are you tired of sending emails with questions or issues to Joe Gettinger and Joe Lyphout? We want to provide an easier and faster way to get help. Beginning on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Joe Gettinger and Joe Lyphout will hold open office hours via Zoom from 9–10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays to answer your questions. Feel free to continue to email or Google Chat with us, but we hope these regular office hours provide a new and faster way to talk things through with us. Look for the Zoom link in the FAST Community of Practice Google Calendar and join us on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
